Why Pros Choose Kept

Everything A Chair Gives You, Without The Chair.

No Chair Rent

No weekly booth fee, no product bill, no booking software to pay for. Your liability insurance is covered.

A Booked, Routed Day

Members are on monthly plans with standing slots. The app builds your route by zip code, so you're cutting, not driving.

The Same Clients

You see the same members every two to four weeks. Their cuts, notes and photos are saved, so every visit starts where the last one ended.

W-2, With A Floor

You're an employee, not a gig. Slow Tuesday? You still earn $12 an hour on every scheduled hour, plus commission and tips.

Office Chair Days

Eight to twelve cuts at one stop with no drive in between. These are the best-paying days on the calendar.

A Real Career Path

Commission rises from 30% to 34% to 38% as you build your book. Kept Academy tracks your courses, badges and levels, and city leads are hired from our Master Pros.

How Pay Works

Four Parts, Every Paycheck.

$12/hr floor+30–38% commission+100% tips+mileage

The hourly floor covers every scheduled hour, including drive time between stops. Commission is a share of everything you book: membership visits, add-ons, events and walk-up bookings. Tips go straight to you through the app. Mileage is reimbursed at the IRS rate and isn't taxed.

At a full schedule, you keep roughly half of what you book before tips, and you pay nothing for rent, product or insurance. Compare that with the 60–80% a gig app pays, before you cover your own gas, supplies, self-employment tax and the hours nobody books.

Typical Texas pay for barbers runs about $14 to $16 an hour (BLS, May 2025). A full-time Kept Pro barber earns about $40 an hour with tips.

Questions Pros Ask

FAQ

Am I an employee or a contractor?

An employee (W-2). Kept withholds taxes, pays the employer share, covers your liability insurance and guarantees an hourly floor on every scheduled hour.

Can I choose my hours?

Yes. You set your availability in blocks: full time at about 40 hours, or part time from 20. Members book into your open slots, and you know your route the night before.

Do I keep my own clients?

Bring them. Clients who join a Kept plan stay on your route, and you earn $50 for each one.

Can I do color, gel or waxing?

Not in a client's home. Texas rules for in-home services don't allow color, chemical services or waxing, and gel isn't clearly covered. Those services will come with Kept salon vans later.

Is it safe to work in people's homes?

Every member is verified with a card on file, every visit has live check-in, and you can end any visit that doesn't feel right. A parent or guardian is home for every visit with a minor.

How do tips work?

Members tip in the app after each visit, and 100% goes to you on your next paycheck. Cash tips are yours too.

How does injector pay compare to a med spa?

Salaried med spa nurses average about $39 an hour, and contract injectors typically ask $50 to $100 an hour per service. Kept RNs start at $55 an hour, NPs and PAs at $70, and you also earn 10% of the treatment revenue you deliver. At 12 treatments a week averaging $240, that is about $288 a week on top of your hourly pay. We bring the members and the schedule, so you are not selling or driving between clients.

Who are the nurse injectors employed by?

Injectables are a medical service. Nurse injectors work with Kept's physician-owned medical partner, under written protocols and physician delegation as Texas requires.
